Together against all Odds
The United Nations is an intergovernmental organization
tasked to promote international co-operation and to create and maintain
international order. We are celebrating the United Nations Day every 24th
of October because this day reminds us about acknowledging and accepting
cultural diversity whole-heartedly and founding the United Nations right after
the very tragic World War II meant a very important idea to be embedded in every
nation and that is to achieve peace.
As Mother Teresa of Calcutta once said, “Only humility
will lead us to unity, and unity will lead to peace”. In order to have peace,
let’s not only follow the laws of the government hence, we should strive hard
to become a citizen of the world. Let there be no boundaries between the people
because there is strength in numbers, together, we can fight the most common
contemporary issue which is poverty and let’s make our environment not just an
environment but a home. Let the people experiencing poverty feel that they are
also loved by many and there are still many opportunities waiting for them
because a life lived in poverty corrodes the people who have to endure it. They need us because poverty erases their hope
and also self-respect.
Let us work together and help each other to achieve our
main goal in life, as what the United Nations do, we will work for the entire
human family of seven billion people, and we’ll care for the earth, our one and
only home.
