Free, Forever

Did you know why every year, every 12th day of June is proclaimed as a special holiday? Some may know and some may not. It is a holiday because it is what we call the day the Philippines, our country became free from the Spaniards and for us, it is the Philippine Independence Day.

When someone asks me about why are we celebrating the Philippine Independence Day, I would probably say that it is because to honor the hardships and sacrifices of our beloved heroes, who fought for us, for our future and most especially, for our freedom. And for that, they really deserved to be recognized and must really celebrate the day we became free, not only our birthdays, our parents' wedding anniversaries, and many more. Let us be thankful because of them, we are here today, living our life to the fullest.

For us millennial's, we must admit the fact that we are really not aware of what our heroes had done. We can do the things they have done before but we don't want to because of our tardiness. We can celebrate the day they became, the greatest of all heroes, if we want to, but HOW? By the means of social media, we can be online for many hours and must sacrifice our 2-5 minutes to even  make a simple status, a status of "Happy Independence Day, Philippines!" and "Malaya ka na, Pilipinas!" could be great. Let's prove that we are really the hope of our nation. Express all the thoughts running on our heads but make sure that it cannot hurt anybody. Do not hesitate, because they didn't hesitate to fight for our country, which we are in right now. Let's not waste our time and make every minute count. Let's do our share and responsibilities to make our country more progressive. Yesterday, today, tomorrow, and for the next days to come, we are and we will be free.
